- Recommended retailers

Good record stores aren't always easy to find so here's some suggestions. I've also included what I consider to be the better on-line stores which allow you to shop instanteously over the Internet.

Like the other pages, more is always being added to the list of recommended retailers as time progresses.

Mail Order Outlets On-line Stores

Mail Order outlets:

C.G. Discs, P.O. Box 189, Dorking, Surrey, RH5 6HY, Great Britain. Telephone 44-(0)1306-730721, Telefax 44-(0)1306-730995, Contact Mike Shannon

Has to be one of the best specialist stores ever (!). Stocks close to everything any melodic rock fan could be after - no matter where in the world its released.... Produce regular lists of new releases for customers, and assures very prompt delivery. Used to trade as JLB.

AOR Heaven, Landshuter Straße 11, 84051 Althiem, Germany, Telephone & Telefax 49-(0)87-03-8517, Contact Georg Siegl

In a similar vein to CG Discs with a good selection of discs from all around the world. Prices are reasonable and accepts payment in several foreign currencies (and now credit cards too), but the pound-Germany mark exchange rate hurts UK based customers a little. Also produces a nice newsletter with its current stock - the newsletter might be in German but you can still figure out what it's telling you... Click here to send e-mail for more details

Wishing Well Entertainment, P.O. Box 20998, Mesa, AZ 85277-0998, USA, Telephone/Telefax 1-(602) 981-9862, Contact Cassandra Pamachena

Excellent store with lots of hard to get CDs and prices that make you want to buy more and more! They also accept wants lists and will have a web site up and running real soon...

Mark Dorman, 8 Kenday Close, Belper, Derbyshire, DE56 0EY, Great Britain, Telephone 44-(0) 1773-829178

Independent guy that produces lists for both CDs and vinyl. Prices are very reasonable indeed and accepts foreign currency. Lists include plenty of rare items from all around the world.

Mark also supports a CD and vinyl trading site on the web - click here to visit....

AOR Treasures, PO Box 2678, Redmond, WA 98073, USA, Telefax 1-(206) 486 3443, Contact Mike Barnett

Really interesting and knowledgible outlet with access to lots of hard to find items both old and new. As well as accepting "wants lists" also supplies catalogue very promptly (i.e. within 24 hours...) by e-mail. Accepts payment in foreign currency and also offers free surface shipping workwide on larger orders.

Very interesting UK store that has all the current releases at competitive prices and access to rarer items too. Provides monthly newsletter/catalogue to all its customers. Accepts fully range of credit cards and ships internationally with ease.

Web site has recently opened as well - check it out...

Destiny Records, 6 Christie Avenue, Whiteley, Farnham, Hampshire, PO15 7JE, Great Biriain, Telephone (44) 1489-603549, Telefax/Answering Machine (44) 1489-603550, Contact Simon Callaghan

Nice UK based store that operates both as a traditional mail-order outlet and a subscription discount club. Issues a very useful catalogue each month with useful descriptions of new releases and lots of special offers. Accepts full range of credit and charge cards.

Big House Records, 10-12 West End Arcade, Nottingham, NG1 9HY, Great Britain. Telephone/Telefax (44) 115-958-7117, Telephone (evenings) (44) 115-904-3285, Contact Neil Bennett

A relatively new UK outlet (originally called Wildside II) that offers very competitive prices and a regularly mailed catalogue update. Mainly focused on UK and European releases, but also able to supply full range of imports as well. Always has 5,000 CDs in stock at any one time and aims to have 100 different Japanese titles available immediately as well. As of late May 2000 they now take credit cards....

New Frontier Records, Hooftstraat 166, 2406 GP Alphen a/d Rijn, The Netherlands, Telephone (31)-172-477486, Telefax (31)-172-470460, Contact Peter Schonewille, General Manager

Excellent store with all the major European melodic rock releases at very reasonable prices. Full catalogue contains more than 1000 CDs and videos....

New Frontier too now has an excellent web site, click here to jump to it...

Jan Svanhill, P.O. Box 2819, San Rafael, CA 94912, USA

An exiled Swede that certainly knows a thing about tracking down obscure and rare vinyl (he only deals in vinyl at the moment but may start stocking CDs soon). His mail order list is brimming over with lots of very difficult to find melodic rock releases, and his prices are totally down to earth! I filled several nagging gaps in my collection with Jan's help without paying through the nose....

On-line music store resources:

Jump to CD Now's on-line store

Claims to be the "Biggest, fastest, bestest... (blah, blah, blah)" on-line store - and probably is! Has a very comprehensive catalogue which can be searched very quickly and easily by artist, album title, record label, or even song title. Ships on a worldwide basis.

Jump to CD Universe's on-line store

Catalogue and prices are pretty similar to Pentagon Records, but is even cheaper on some items! Excellent selection includes non-US released imports, again at very reasonable prices. For European customers they offer extremely fair air-mail shipping rates (putting CD Now to shame!) which is a huge plus. An excellent all round store, which is fast becoming my favourite place to shop....

Jump to The NEH Records site

While primarily being the US label for output from Axe and CITA, NEH also now provides a cost effective outlet for US readers to purchase releases on the MTM label, where the quality is always very high!

Jump to The Missing Piece store

A very interested Swedish based store. Specialises in both Progressive rock and AOR/Westcoast and has a great selection of stock from all around the world including some very hard to locate items.... Every serious melodic rock find will find something they are looking for here!

Jump to Impulse Music

Not quite a full on-line store as the web site is really just a catalogue of their stock, however it does have comments on all the releases and is updated ever week. This is another very useful store for US and International fans alike - they are knowledgable and even send out a free 30 song sampler tape to customers. The store is US based and ships worldwide.
Click her to e-mail Impulse for ordering details

Jump to The Rock Shop

Spanish based store with good site and good selection of releases, predominatly from European labels. Prices are some of the best I've seen and Spanish exchange rate makes them even better value! Ships on a worldwide basis and very useful for both European and non-European listeners alike.

Jump to Wildside Imports

Another nice American based store with a great selection of melodic rock imports and domestic independent releases. A good all rounder indeed....

Australian Artists on-line - Greg's Store

Very useful outlet for obtaining those hard to find Australian CDs. There's still a surprising amount of new AOR being released in Australian and they're not too easy to find in other countries on import so this site is well worth a visit sometime.

Hot Tracks

Very nice specialist US store with an excellent selection of AOR, melodic rock, and progressive rock in stock. Mainly specialises in imports and has reasonably competitive pricing. Full secure site with complete on-line ordering facilities.

If you've got any particular suggestions for worthy outlets that should be added to this page, then please feel free to get in touch.
